Marquetry is the art of carving and pressing thin slices of wood to
create intricate images on furniture, instruments, boxes and anything wooden.

Williams College
Our trip to Williams College Art Museum left us shocked and awed. Our guide, John Stomberg, introduced us to some of the most mind-blowing and controversial art of the 20th century. These pieces included "Fictitious Portraits" by Keith Cottingham, "Prevalence of Ritual: Baptism" by Romare Howard Bearden, and (as shown below) "Oppenheimer's Garden" by Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison .
This picture was printed from a paper negative, which enables photographers to produce an image containing more than one picture.
